College Budgeting 101

B.E. Budget Explorers’ College Budgeting 101 is available to all college students preparing to make a significant change — from starting college, to graduating or transferring, or even changing majors.

Whether you want to feel more confident handling your money or just want to be prepared to answer that all-too-familiar (and still very important) question, “So what are you doing next?”, this is the course for you.

Course description

In this intensive 12-week budgeting course*, you will

  1. Learn to live within your means, including:
    • avoid gaining more debt
    • pay off debt
    • save for emergencies
    • save for the future
  2. Plan to address necessities, such as:
    • employment
    • housing
    • meals
    • health
    • debt
    • transportation
  3. Set yourself up for success by exploring concepts such as:
    • the hidden job market
    • networking
    • your ideal workplace
    • target income
    • informational interviews
    • managing expectations

Upon successful completion of the course, each of these topics will have an action plan prepared, with some already in progress.

The first “semester” of this course begins Monday, July 23. **

* College Budgeting 101 consists primarily of individual coaching calls every other week, as well as worksheets for individual reflection.

While the objectives of the course are the same for everybody, the outcome will vary based on individuals’ needs, learning styles, and effort. This is in line with B.E. Budget Explorer’s philosophy that there is no one-size-fits-all budget.
